Occupation and Income Reporting

For E-visa and F-visa holders, via HiKorea

This is a legal reporting duty under the Immigration Act (Articles 47 and 49-2 of the Enforcement Rule), not optional paperwork. It is your own personal duty, not something your school files for you. Missing the 15-day window for a change can lead to a fine of up to 1,000,000 KRW under Article 100(2) of the Immigration Act, an administrative fine rather than a criminal one, decided at the local office's discretion.
Paper reporting has ended. The pilot period (January–June 2026) allowed both online and paper forms, but from the second half of 2026 onward, only online reporting through HiKorea is accepted. If you are visiting immigration anyway for something else, such as your ARC, the report screen usually pops up on its own during that booking, so try letting it happen there first. If it does not go through at the office for any reason, you are still responsible for completing it yourself on HiKorea afterward. Confirm your own case with immigration or 1345.

01. Who Must Report

E-Visas (E-1–E-10)Mandatory in every case. These are work visas, so reporting is required regardless of income level or whether you currently have a job
F-Visas (F-2, F-4, F-6)Mandatory only once you earn Korean income, from a job, a side job, or a business. If you currently have no income, there is nothing to report
F-5 (Permanent Residence)Fully exempt from this requirement

02. When to Report

First ReportAt foreigner registration, or within 15 days of starting to earn income if you registered with none
Filed With Your ARC VisitYou do not need a separate trip for this. It is normally filed together, in one visit, when you apply for stay extension, status change, or initial registration. The report screen appears automatically during that HiKorea booking
Ongoing ChangesFile within 15 days only if your occupation changes, or your income moves into a different bracket. A normal monthly pay change that stays in the same bracket does not need a new report
If You Are LateFile as soon as you notice. Waiting longer only increases the fine risk
