BRIDGE SUPPORT GUIDE

E-Visa Medical Check and Drug Test

회화지도 E비자 채용신체검사서 안내 (in-Korea medical check)

This is the official E-visa employment medical certificate, not a normal health check. The procedure is the same whether you hold an F visa or are a Korean national. The drug test covers every form of narcotic, is recorded permanently, and can lead to removal even if legal in your home country.
Rules change without notice. When unsure, message your recruiter with your exact question rather than guessing. Final authority rests with the immigration office.

BRIDGE

01. When You Need It

Required WhenApplying for your Alien Registration Card after arrival, changing employers, or renewing your E-visa if immigration asks for it
Same DistrictEven when you move within the same immigration jurisdiction a fresh check can still be required at the officer's discretion
Going AloneYour employer may come with you but many will expect you to go on your own as an adult

BRIDGE SUPPORT

02. When to Take It

TimingTake it in the final week before your first day. Never take it long in advance. An old result will not be accepted
ExampleIf you start on 1 March, visit around 25 February and collect the results by the 28th
If You Are LateTell your employer the reason on your first day and ask them to help you book the earliest slot

BRIDGE

03. Where to Go

Designated OnlyOnly a government designated hospital counts. A general check from an ordinary clinic can be rejected. Tell them you need the E-visa employment medical examination, and say this even if you hold an F visa
Which HospitalCheck the designated list and find one near where you live. Try smaller local clinics first, as large hospitals usually take longer. If you cannot find one, ask your recruiter and give the exact area such as Yongsan-gu Seoul
If Time Is TightCall at least ten hospitals, private clinics as well as large ones. Places that run the lab in house can return the result within a day. Do not insist on the nearest one; go where the result comes fastest even if farther. Your visa process comes first
Result DelaySome hospitals send samples to an outside lab, which adds days. Turnaround runs from same day to over two weeks, so ask before you commit

BRIDGE SUPPORT

04. Before You Go

FastingFast for at least 8 full hours. No food, water, alcohol or medication
BringOriginal passport, ARC if you have one, and 2 to 3 passport style photos
BookingSome hospitals need an appointment; some only take walk-ins first thing in the morning. Confirm when you call
CostRoughly 60,000 to 180,000 KRW depending on the hospital. Call ahead and confirm the amount
CopiesSay how many copies you need before the exam starts. Asking afterwards can mean paying again or waiting

BRIDGE

05. Your Result

Keep It SealedEvery copy comes in a sealed envelope. Do not open it yourself. An opened envelope is refused
How ManyNo ARC yet: usually 2 to 3 (immigration, Office of Education, employer record). ARC already: 2 is normally enough

06. What Gets Tested

Standard ItemsBlood pressure, height and weight, vision, chest X-ray for tuberculosis, urine analysis, blood test, and an oral check at some hospitals
Drug ScreenA drug test is included. All recreational drugs including cannabis are illegal in Korea. The screening is repeated every time, so passing once is not a free pass. A positive result can mean immediate visa cancellation and dismissal

BRIDGE

07. Medication and Health Conditions

False PositivesPainkillers and some prescription medicines can trigger a false positive. Avoid unnecessary medication for 3 to 4 weeks beforehand when it is medically safe to do so, and tell the hospital about every medicine you take
High Blood PressureIf you have high blood pressure, cut out fast food for at least a week before the exam. It can affect your reading on the day
MenstruationAsk the hospital about the urine test if you are menstruating on the day
Chronic IllnessConditions such as high blood pressure or depression should be disclosed during hiring

08. Final Checklist

Passport, ARC and photos packed

Legal basis. Under Article 76 of the Enforcement Rules of the Immigration Control Act and Appendix 5-2, an E-visa holder must submit an employment medical certificate including a narcotics screening from a designated medical institution.

Unsure about timing, documents or which hospital to use? Message your BRIDGE recruiter with your exact question. Final authority rests with the immigration office, and district guidance can differ.
