BRIDGE SUPPORT GUIDE

Why "Almost Ready" Isn't Ready

What full document readiness actually means for your E-2 application

A school choosing between a ready candidate and a not-quite-ready one will always interview the one who is ready. That's because nobody can say when "in progress" actually finishes, and in many countries the government process behind these documents is genuinely slow.
General guidance for reference only. Timelines and exact procedures vary by country and personal circumstance. Confirm your own case with the relevant authority or your BRIDGE recruiter.

Six Things Applicants Get Wrong

Never Applied Before"Do I really need the expensive notarized, apostilled documents already?"
Yes, every serious candidate arrives ready. Schools interview people who are already prepared, not people who might be prepared eventually
Local Apostille"I have an apostille, just from my local city government."
That won't work. It must be your country's national authority: FBI (US), RCMP (Canada), ACRO (UK), AFP (Australia), Ministry of Justice (NZ), An Garda Síochána (Ireland), or SAPS (South Africa). The two documents aren't the same either. Your degree needs a notarized copy plus its own apostille. Your criminal record check is already government-issued, so it usually needs the apostille alone, with no separate notarization. Confirm the current process with the issuing office, since it can change over time
Still In Progress"I've applied for my documents, they're coming, I just don't know when."
Finish the whole chain first: request, receive result, send for apostille, get it back in hand. Apply to schools only once your documents are actually in hand, not while any step is still pending
Expiring Soon"My documents expire in a month. Or they already expired."
The stamp date on the document is what starts the clock. Only apply to schools while you are within 4 months of that stamp date. Unless you're an exceptional candidate signing whatever comes first, the road to actually submitting your documents in Korea is long: interview, contract, approval, sometimes a demo class, then mailing everything over. For most people that simply takes time. If you're already past 4 months, get a new document first, don't apply anyway and hope it holds up
Already In Korea"I'm already here and my documents are still valid, I checked!"
Checked with whom? A friend, a forum, someone who went through it once. None of them can guarantee your case. Even a phone call to immigration doesn't settle it, since the person who answers isn't the officer reviewing your file. Confirm your own case directly
Submitted Once Before"I already submitted my degree to Korea before."
True, and it may not be needed again, but the officer can still ask for it at their discretion. If it's been more than about 3 to 5 years, prepare fresh copies rather than assume the old ones apply. South Africa has an extra step: SAQA verification before DIRCO apostille. Always use the real government channel yourself
Before you start: check everything again. All your documents, complete and perfect, before you apply anywhere. This isn't really about paperwork; it's about timing. Take the extra week now. It's shorter than the extra month you lose if a document comes back wrong, expired, or from the wrong office. Take this seriously, and reach out to your BRIDGE recruiter early if anything is unclear.
