1. Personal Document Checklist
ARC (Alien Registration Card)
If your new job starts on March 1, 2025, ensure your ARC is valid beyond March 20, 2025.
If your ARC expires within 20 days of your new job’s start date, send a photo of the back of your card.
Passport
If your job starts on March 1, 2025, ensure your passport is valid beyond March 30, 2026.
If your passport expires before March 30, 2026, send a photo of the information page or tell to the managers.
If you renew your passport, notify the school director and make sure to report the change yourself to avoid penalties.
Tax Certificate
Request your tax withholding certificate (원천징수영수증) from your current employer before your contract ends.
If needed, you can print it yourself or visit the Tax Office (세무서) to request a copy.

2. Immigration Office Procedures
Workplace change notification must be completed within 15 days.
Even if the school is busy, you must visit before the deadline.
If a reservation is needed, the recruiter and school will coordinate it, but dates may change.
Do not schedule your own appointment without confirming with the school or hiring manager.
3. Moving & Housing Arrangements
If you’ve agreed to use school-provided housing, you cannot request additional items that were not agreed upon in the contract.
Example: If a wardrobe isn’t provided, you cannot request one. or Once assigned to school housing, switching to private housing later is difficult.
Move-in Planning
Plan your expected move-in date 3–4 weeks in advance and inform the school of any special needs.
Early move-in is usually not possible since the current teacher is still occupying the apartment.
Most move-ins happen the day before or early on the morning of your first workday.
If you want to visit your housing beforehand, it may not be possible if someone is still living there.
Furnishings & Internet
Some schools provide beds; others do not.
If you already have a bed, internet, or other items in your name, let the school know in advance.
Some accommodations come with a fixed bed that cannot be removed. Teachers in this situation often stack mattresses to make the bed more comfortable.

If You Are Outside Korea
A health check (including drug testing) is required before applying for an E-2 visa in Korea.
Before visiting a clinic, confirm that the health check includes drug testing for the E-2 visa.
Request an extra copy of the results in advance.
Prices vary significantly between hospitals compare at least two options before booking.
The best time to complete your health check is 2–7 days before your first workday.
Do not do the test too early, as results can expire.
In case you can’t find time in advance, make sure to inform your new school on your first day so they can help with the hospital work.

Some schools provide uniforms, but if not, they expect teachers to dress neatly and professionally. The best choice is attire that makes you look like a teacher.
For example, during summer:
Avoid worn-out, torn, or ripped clothing. Refrain from wearing low-cut tops that reveal cleavage or crop tops that expose your midriff.
If you have large or scary tattoos, it’s best to cover them as much as possible. Flip-flops or open-toe slippers are generally not recommended.
Korean culture places an emphasis on cleanliness. Especially in summer, it’s good practice to shower frequently, use deodorant, and ensure proper hygiene to maintain a fresh and professional image.
